Aqua Wellness
					When the “Antenna Thuringia” radio presenter Frank Sandmann accompanied 50 women on a journey to the Toskana Therme in 2000, he completely forgot to broadcast his live-report at the appointed time. What happened? Frank Sandmann had received an Aqua Wellness Session in the Liquid Sound® pool and forgot entirely about the time. And he didn’t even regret it!
					To be held gently by an experienced bodyworker, to be moved almost weightlessly through water, perhaps even underwater, is for most people one of the most healing experiences they have ever come across. And, what’s more one does not even have to be in need of healing to entrust oneself to the comforting arms of an Aqua Wellness bodyworker. Specially development movements above and below water allow the entire backbone to stretch and to energise the muscles and body. An Aqua Wellness session allows one to feel one’s inner well-being, to let go and, paradoxically, to feel one’s weightless body afresh. A session begins with a relaxation phase and massage on the water’s surface. The journey can, if desired, continue under the water’s surface (a nose-clip stops water getting in your nose). The journey takes you into a timeless zone, a space of oceanic sensations in which boundaries and limits have no meaning.
					Aqua Wellness means health and beauty through bodywork in warm water and invites you to make contact with the healing energy of water and the suppleness of your own body. Elements of gentle stretching and massage, joint loosening, energy work and breathing rhythm combine to form a new experience of a kind not achievable without water. Aqua Wellness was founded by the physical therapists Kaya Femerling and Martino Nirvano Schulz. Their experiences with whales, dolphins and water babies inspired this gentle and creative method. Musia Heike Bus, one of the pioneering Aqua Wellness bodyworkers runs the Institute for Aqua Wellness in Bad Sulza. She offers both individual sessions and seminars as well as bodyworker training together with Martina Nirvano Schulz.
					An Aqua Wellness Session in Bad Sulza adds the dimension of movement to the “passive” acoustic experience of Liquid Sound and forms an “active” interaction with the light, water and sound. A reporter from Stern magazine (23/2000) wrote:     “… they carry you on their hands. Draw you through the water. With a clip on your nose you glide like a fish that can think through the water, surfacing every few seconds to breathe. Those able to let go begin to drift and dream, fall into a trance, forget the time of day and gain a special sense of trust.”
